Another Charlotte Tilbury review, and of course it’s going be another appreciation post! I literally have the utmost respect and appreciation for the PR team at Charlotte Tilbury; as a ‘micro influencer’, it’s such an honour when a big brand or their team reach out and ask you if you’d like to review a new release. In this instance, I received a DM from Charlotte Tilbury’s official instagram account and an email from their lovely PR team. Safe to say I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to review the new ‘Magic Away Concealer’ and ‘Genius Magic Powder’! Read below to see a bit more info about the products, my first impressions and full review!
New from Charlotte Tilbury ♥ |
Charlotte Tilbury as a brand really have been taking the beauty market by storm over the last few months, recently launching in both America and Spain. The brand is definitely one of my absolute favourites in my collection, the products are all such high quality and perform extremely well for me. As soon as I received the new concealer and powder, I head straight to John Lewis to pick up the Hollywood Flawless Filter and Magic Foundation to really give the products a full CT test run. I’ve heard such amazing things about both products so I was really excited to combine them with the new concealers and powder to get that perfect base!
Thank you so much! ♥ |
So, let’s start with the concealer as this is the product I was most intrigued by. Out of my whole makeup collection, concealers is definitely the department I’m probably most lacking in as I literally only have 4 or 5 options? My holy grail is 100% the Tarte Shape Tape. I am yet to find a concealer that is as full coverage or vibrant. My collection also consists of the Makeup Revolution conceal and define Concealer and the Nars Radiant creamy concealer, and the Maybelline instant anti age eraser eye concealer.
When the Maybelline eye eraser concealer came out, the beauty community (me included) went crazy to try and get our hands on it. I absolutely loved the sponge applicator concept, it made application so much easier and the coverage was impressive. The new offering from Charlotte Tilbury boasts a magic precision sponge applicator used for a full coverage, long lasting, water resistant concealer. The card I received with the concealer detailed all of the amazing ingredients in the concealer. When I tested it out, it really did feel like a second skin!
In my opinion, the coverage of the new Charlotte Tilbury concealer is on par with the Makeup Revolution concealer, similar in both consistence and coverage. The packaging is absolutely beautiful too, the same sleek stylish rose gold exterior that feels luxurious and sturdy. It took a few attempts to wind the bottom of the concealer up to get it going but once it did, the sponge absorbed the product and distributed it beautifully. I absolutely loved how much the concealer shade also complimented the magic foundation shade too, a perfect match!
Such gorgeous packaging ♥ |
Moving on to the new magic powder, when I heard Charlotte Tilbury were going to be releasing a loose powder I was super excited! If you’re anything like me, you’ll have at least a drawer full of loose powders and love trying new ones! I absolutely adore their Airbrush flawless finish powder, I’m already on my second!
I received mine in the shade ‘fair’ which was actually perfect for my skin tone. It has a slight peachy undertone similar to the Peach Perfect mattifying loose setting powder from Too Faced but probably a little more brightening. The CT Magic Powder is supposed to blur imperfections, boost radiance and visibly reduce dark shadows and pigmentation, leaving skin smooth and mattified. From using this extensively over the last week I can honestly say I agree to a certain extent with all of the above. The powder definitely leaves your skin looking matte and smooth, and definitely brightens the under eye area beautifully. It doesn’t have that tightening element to the formula that seems to be best to combat fine lines under the eye area, but then again, not a lot of powders do! I haven’t stopped using this since I received it and I would definitely recommend it for anyone in the market looking for a new loose powder perfect for setting and baking.
The Magic Powder is available now on Charlotte Tilbury’s website retailing at £33 for 13g. During this unboxing (saved in my PR unboxing instagram story highlights), I did a comparison of the Magic Powder vs a few other loose powders to give a better understanding to those of you considering the price.
- Beauty Bakerie flour setting powder contains 14g for £19.50
- Marc Jacobs coconut glow setting powder contains 8g for £37.50
- Laura Mercier translucent powder contains 29g for £29
All the ingredients for a perfect base ♥ |
Upon receipt of this package, I went straight up to my local John Lewis store the same evening to pick up the Hollywood Flawless Filter and the Magic Foundation so that I could do a full face of first impressions over the weekend. Safe to say I was very impressed with the outcome and loved how my skin looked and felt. The products were so easy to use and I’ve found my new obsession in the Hollywood flawless filter. I absolutely love the concept of this product just because it is so versatile and you’re not restricted at all in how you can use it! I already adore the Wonder Glow Primer but with this added to your bases pre-foundation application and you literally are onto a winner if you want perfect dewy skin! It’s also a beautiful product to use when cream contouring, add it on top of your foundation to the high points of your face before applying powder highlighter for a beautiful seamlessly blended glow!
Really pleased with how my skin looks! ♥ |
As for the magic foundation, just wow. I buffed it in lightly with a foundation brush first before going over the areas with beauty sponge, topping up areas that need slightly more coverage. It definitely is a solid medium coverage foundation but very easily buildable to full coverage with minimal effort and definitely on par with Fenty Pro Filtr in both coverage and colour match. I got matched to shade 4 in the Magic Foundation and am 150 in Fenty & ‘shortbread’ in Huda Beauty faux filter. Up until this point, Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filtr & Huda’s faux filter were the only two foundations in my collection that I feel 100% confident are a true match to my skin tone.
I created the above look using all of my new Charlotte Tilbury products and I absolutely love the way my skin turnt out! All of the products applied seamlessly, easy to blend and work with, the concealer as hopefully you can see from the photos really illuminates the areas of my face that I highlighted. The next products on my list from Charlotte Tilbury are definitely going to be an eye palette (hopefully the new pillow talk one!) and I’ve also heard amazing things about the Mascaras!
Charlotte Tilbury collection ♥ |
As you can probably tell, Charlotte Tilbury is a beauty brand that I am incredibly fond of and respect hugely. Their products are extremely luxurious and high quality. Everything the brand releases is consistent with their image and vision, and let’s be honest, I’d honestly struggle to find a brand with nicer packaging for the makeup items. I may be slightly biased as you guys know I love Rose Gold so this packaging makes me incredibly happy!
