So if things could get any more surreal, Iconic London – one of my absolute favourite makeup brands reached out to me on Instagram. They told me they loved my instagram feed and wondered if I’d like to review some of their products!!! For those of you who have been keeping up with my blog posts, you’ll know that I’ve already dedicated a few blog posts to Iconic London’s latest releases. This next article is going to run through four of the products they sent me to review. Although I received these products complimentary of Iconic London, this hasn’t influenced this review in any way. Contour and Highlight is at the peak of it’s popularity and I can’t see this particular trend ever going away. Let’s face it, it’s every girl’s dream to be able to emphasise the faces natural shadows or sculpt the non existent ones in my case, and to glow to the gods!

When Iconic London contacted me and offered to send me some products, I was not expecting to receive the bits that I did. They kindly sent me a cream contour kit and their three liquid illuminators so I’ve decided to write a dedicated review to talk through each product, my experience using them and if I’d recommend them.

So let’s start with the contour palette. The formulae of these cream highlight and contour shades is amazing. Literally it’s so moist and buttery, not at all dry whether you’re using a brush, a beauty blender or your finger. I will say I struggled to blend these into my skin when using my finger, but they worked an absolute dream with buffer style brushes and a beauty sponge. There are six shades in the palette, three highlight shades and three contour shades, 2 grams each in weight. The palette retails at £32.99 on Iconic London’s website and Cult Beauty.

So the six shades in the palette are:
- Smooth & Brighten
- Correct & Perfect
- Highlight & Lift
- Tighten & Tone
- Shape & Shade
- Sculpt & Define
So the first shade in the palette ‘Smooth & Brighten’ is a beautiful neutral flesh tone that actually matches my skin tone near enough perfectly. The second shade ‘Correct & Perfect’, is the classic ‘banana powder’ colour – perfect for your under eye area. The third shade ‘Highlight & Lift’ is an almost lily white highlight with a peach undertone, perfect for highlighting the high points of the face before adding a liquid illuminator on top. Moving on to the contour shades, the first of the three shades ‘Tighten & Tone’ is a chocolate brown with a red undertone, perfect for a light bronzing. The second shade ‘Shape & Shade’ is the lightest of the three, a more light milk chocolate brown and the third is a cool toned brown ‘Sculpt & Define’, my favourite of the three shades, perfect for sculpting my jaw line, nose and cheek bones.

So moving on to the liquid illuminators. You get 13.5ml of product for £32.99 a small glass bottle, complete with a dropper. I know lots of people compare these to the Cover FX illuminator drops where you get 15ml of product for £34. I know I did this comparison when I was first on the market for some! The only thing that swayed my opinion was that Harvey Nichols had a 10% offer on which brought their bottles down to less than the Iconic London drops with more product. Literally one week later I then bought the three Iconic London bottles anyway to compare them! The illuminator drops from Iconic London come in three shades, ‘Shine’, ‘Original’ and ‘Glow’.

Swatches from top to bottom:
- Shine – a pearly pink molten metal glow
- Original – a champagne golden glow
- Glow – the perfect bronze glow
So in terms of these illuminators and how I use them, I reach for ‘Glow’ on a daily basis. After my skin care routine and primer, I use Glow to bronze my forehead and sculpt my cheeks with a small Morphe buffer brush, and apply my Marc Jacobs Dew Drops or Becca Champagne Pop liquid highlighter all over the rest of my face. Yes it looks a little crazy at first but once you put your foundation on over the top, it creates such a beautiful natural dewy base, I’m completely obsessed with it at the moment. I then add both ‘Original’ and ‘Shine’ using a beauty sponge on my cheeks, nose, cupids bow and forehead and slay all day! I find it’s better to add these before adding any powder to your face as they are much easier to blend. You can still blend them in after setting your face but it always seems to add a lot more work!

But seriously, if you’re debating about whether to invest in Iconic London’s products, take the plunge! You won’t be disappointed. I’ve bought most of their range now and I am seriously in love with all of their products and was so honoured to receive these to review. The only items I haven’t tried yet are the pigment foundation sticks and their new lashes (which do look absolutely gorgeous).
I’m hopeful that this is just the start of my relationship with the brand, and would love it if they considered keeping me on their PR list for their next releases. Speaking of, I really can’t wait to see if and when they decide to release a powder formulae highlighter if their liquid and cream formulae is anything to go by! I also love the fact the brand is proudly Cruelty Free.
