Okay, so slightly surreal for me as it always in when a brand reaches out on social media and interacts with you. As a beauty blogger, blogging, photographing and editing can sometimes be a thankless task, you are literally doing it because you enjoy it. Since the early days of my Instagram account, Spectrum have been a brand that have consistently made an effort to like my photos, comment and just generally show some love and support if I chose to feature any of their beautiful products. I absolutely adore makeup brushes, literally my collection is HUGE and probably a tad over the top, but I’m always on the hunt for those insta worthy additions to my collection!
Current Brush Collection ♥ |
So, as you can probably tell from the above photo, makeup brush obsession is something I am massively guilty of. I always get the same questions, why do you have so many? Do you use all of them? What do you do with them?
If I was to answer those questions honestly, I’d say I have so many because I love collecting makeup brushes, they look great on my dressing table, they look great in flat lays and any makeup lover will tell you, you can never have too many brushes! Do I use all of them? For makeup? No. For blogging, yes, a lot! Does anyone really want to see a beautiful flat lay on insta featuring makeup stained brushes? No! I’ve tried practically all my sets of course, but then I wash them and get them back to ‘good as new’. Every now and again I might decide to delve into my collection though! I think that also answers the last question, ‘what do I do with them?’
Current Spectrum Brushes Collection ♥ |
Anyway, moving on, my makeup collection includes three brush sets from Spectrum. Matt bought two sets for me as anniversary present last year (what a great anniversary present though!? I literally had no idea either, he’d picked them out all by himself!) He picked out the 12 piece Siren brush set & roll (black handles, multi coloured metalwork and turquoise & black bristles), and the 10 piece Essential set (pink handles, blue and purple bristles).
Crystal Chic Malachite Brush Set ♥ |
Spectrum were kind enough to gift me the newly launched 10 piece Malachite brush set from their Crystal Chic collection. As you can see from the photos, this set is s t u n n i n g. Complete with 10 brushes, this set features a couple of newer brushes that don’t feature in my other two Spectrum sets which was a really nice surprise.
The Crystal Chic collection focuses on creating brush sets that feature the colour scheme of a particular ‘jewel’ or ‘crystal’, as well as the properties that stone is known for. In this brush set, the focus and inspiration was the crystal ‘Malachite’ or ‘The Transformer’. Known for it’s links to personal growth, positive vibes and healing properties, Malachite is beautiful crystal with an abundance of archaeological history. Interestingly, in Ancient Egypt, the hieroglyph for the colour green (Wadj) was associated with both the papyrus plant and the Malachite stone. The colour Green itself was considered to represent vegetation – fertility and new life, as well as death and the power of resurrection i.e. the full circle of life. The stone was also ground and used as a pigment in ancient Egyptian painting! Either way, you cannot argue that this set isn’t both beautifully exquisite and extremely tranquil and positive!
Aren’t they beautiful? ♥ |
